Disaster Awareness and Risk Communication
My expertise in disaster awareness and risk communication includes:
Development and implementation of risk communication projects for institutions and communities as per beneficiaries’ needs and partners’ requirements.
I gave several speeches on this topic in national and international meetings. I had teaching appointments in the field of risk communication at Health Management in Disasters Master Program of the Hacettepe University, Institute of Public Health and at Disaster Management Master Program of the Public Administration Institute for Turkey and Middle East.
I am the author of the risk communication sections of the Hospital Disaster and Emergency Planning Guideline of the Turkish MoH, including the risk communication Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) and created relevant training sections and drills for risk communication for the MoH to use in hospital disaster preparedness trainings.
My expertise in epidemiology and disaster risk communication provides a valuable combination for designing and implementing studies and surveys. I had successfully led two earthquake risk communication projects within the Swiss TPH. I have been working as a researcher within The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) funded project “Psychosocial Resilience to Earthquakes: An Intervention Study for Increasing Preparedness in İstanbul”.
